Intuition + life beyond mustard coloured pooh

Parenting is just like meditation.

It’s all about a single point of focus. The difference is that while meditating the idea is to keep your mind focussed on a single point.  For example breath moving in and out of your nostrils. While parenting, on the other hand, especially while parenting a newborn, it’s near bloody impossible to think of anything but what’s happening in that moment.

There’s nothing like the shrill cry of a baby desperately trying to communicate its need for food to bring you back to the present moment.

I feel as if I’ve just come up for air, four months deep into mamahood. It’s been a learning curve no one can ever prepare you for; deeply fulfilling, terrifying at moments, and so, so joyful.

But let’s cut the crap and get real.

I completely forgot that there was a world outside of mustard coloured poo. I forgot to breathe deep, set intentions, listen to my higher self, look to the universe for feedback and ask for help when I need it. I forgot that my baby and I are totally supported by the universe and that all the answers I could possibly need are there for me, if I just listened.

So yesterday I listened.

It was as easy as asking ‘What do I need to know right now?’ Who am I asking?  The universe, me, my higher self, the wisdom contained in all that is. God. Consciousness.

The answers came.

Not immediately, they came while I was walking, in the shower, when I was gazing out the window at 3 AM feeding my bubba. Little ideas, inklings about what’s next, things to act on, gut feelings  – they allstarted to trickle in.

What’s the moral of this sleep-deprived (but love-filled) story?

Whether you are a parent or not we all forget to listen to our higher selves sometimes.  We get too busy, overwhelmed, or confused to drop in and trust ourselves. The guidance constantly drip fed to us about where to go and what to do next in order to bring our greatest joy is always available. You just need to ask, and then listen for the answers.

Need a hand to get back in flow? Try this:

* Pick an oracle card

* Sit or lay on the ground (outside is the best) and just breathe and ask the question ‘What do I need to know right now?’

* Take a life inventory, what’s the universe trying to tell you? Are you in flow? Are things  good, do you feel light and happy? Or are you constantly experiencing mini shit-storms? (Watch this video to learn how to exit a shit-storm).

* Listen to a meditation (some great freebies can be found on YouTube!)

You’ve got access to all the answers. You just need to listen. And I’m just thinking that since you took the time to get all the way to the last line that perhaps NOW is a good time to listen.

Go on, give it a go beauty, I know you won’t regret it.

Phat love to you gorgeous.
